1/20/2023 --- Finally the end of the week...
Woof, work has been busy this week. And not in the good way. This is easily the longest 4-day week I've ever had. I can really tell the holidays are over now that business is picking back up again. Everyone has those New Year goals they wanted to hit RIGHT NOW and everything that comes across my desk is a "rush". Funny thing is, if everything is a "rush", then nothing gets rushed. I do what I can to get through everything, but I'm only one person, so that's all I've got.
But enough about work. I'm just glad it's over for a couple of days.
Editing is going well on The Quest for Cowmelot. I'm finishing the ballroom scene up tonight and getting closer to the "group breakup" that's coming. I've only got about nine more chapters to edit before I move into writing the final act of the book. I'm excited to get moving on my word count for the year. Being in back-to-back edits for two novels really put a dent in my writing for the year already, but I'll get back on the horse, no problem. I fully intend on having another novel completely finished by the end of March at the latest, so I'll have three new books out this year before April :)
Facebook ads have been doing really well these past few days! I learned how to use Amazon Attribution links, so I'm able to track all sales and KENP pages as a direct result of my FB ads. I'm happy to say that they have a very real potential to break just on book 1's alone. However, they are definitely super profitable at the moment where I'm making $4 for every $1 I spend on average (this includes series readthrough). This is ASTRONOMICALLY better than Amazon ads or any other ad I've purchased in the past.
I'm not sure how interested people are in the money side of the author business, but I really enjoy it. Plus, if I want to do this full-time, it HAS to make money. Unfortunately, I can't survive on good reviews and creative vibes alone. But, with my goal being to go full-time by the end of the year, these ads and their ROI (return on investment) are going to really help me out. I know I'm only a little over a week into it, but it's making all this feel a lot more possible. AND it's super nice to see my backlist I worked so hard on finally selling like I know it should. More happy reviews are rolling in and I'm holding a 4.1 star average across most of my books. To me that says I need to keep improving my craft, but I'm extremely happy with an 82% average score with readers.
Now I just need to get more books written and published to make all this the more possible!
See ya tomorrow!
